BRIDGING THE GAPS: Our Story Behind United Partners in Global Health

Adam Hohman had seen the best and worst of healthcare. As a nurse practitioner with years of experience in both high-tech hospitals and resource-limited settings, he had witnessed a stark reality: access to care wasn’t just about medicine—it was about equity, opportunity, and dignity.

As a nurse practitioner, he had seen firsthand the heartbreaking reality of healthcare disparities—families in rural villages struggling without basic medical care, hospitals without essential supplies, and entire communities left vulnerable to preventable diseases. Each time he returned home, the images of those in need stayed with him.

But it wasn’t just about the lack of resources. He saw a deeper issue: a cycle of temporary aid without sustainable solutions. Too often, well-intentioned efforts provided short-term relief but failed to empower local communities to build lasting change. Adam knew there had to be a better way—one that focused on collaboration, sustainability, and real partnerships. â€‹â€‹

That belief led him to establish United Partners in Global Health (UPGH). UPGH was built on a simple yet powerful idea: healthcare should be a collaboration, not a one-time mission.

Adam envisioned an organization that didn’t just send resources but worked with local communities, training healthcare workers, strengthening existing systems, and addressing the social determinants of health—because true health equity meant more than just medicine. It meant ensuring families had safe housing, children had access to education, and communities had the tools they needed to thrive long after outside help was gone.

From its early days, UPGH focused on building relationships, not just providing aid. Whether it was supporting local nonprofits in crisis recovery, equipping schools with health resources, or training frontline workers in resource-constrained settings, every effort was made with sustainability in mind.

Adam didn’t set out to start an organization—he set out to answer a need. And in doing so, he created something far greater: a movement for global health equity, driven by partnership, compassion, and a commitment to lasting impact.
